1. History and Methodology of Physics and Astronomy

This course is dedicated to applicants' acquaintance with history of emergence and development of physics and astronomy, and with methodology of these natural sciences. Applicants study historical aspects of development of physics and astronomy using biographies of prominent scientists as examples.
2. Selected Chapters of Modern Optics and Laser Physics
2nd year course (4th term), 5 credits (150 hours)

The course is dedicated to familiarization with recent achievements in the fields of optics and laser physics, with contemporary notions and directions of development of these chapters of physics. Luminescent processes are discussed concerning different materials, just as applications of the processes in advanced scientific research.
